Chemical & dangerous goods

If you store or handle chemicals on site - even ordinary workshop solvents, paints, fuels or compressed gases - you have specific legal obligations under WHS and dangerous goods legislation. Get them right and your site is safer, your insurance is happier and you pass an inspection without breaking a sweat. Get them wrong and the first you'll hear about it is when a regulator turns up after an incident.

What we sort out

• Chemical register - every product on site, current SDS (Safety Data Sheet), quantities, locations and assigned hazard classifications
• Storage assessment - bunding, segregation of incompatible classes, ventilation, ignition source control, secure access
• Handling procedures - PPE requirements, decanting, spill response, dispensing, disposal of empties
• Manifest and placarding - for sites that hit threshold quantities, the manifest goes to QFES and the placards go on the perimeter
• Worker training - what the chemicals on site can do, how to read an SDS, what to do if something is spilled or splashed
• Annual review - products change, suppliers change, regulations change. A static chemical register is a non-compliant chemical register
